Topsail Beach, North Carolina 2014

This was the sort of vacation that is planned months in advance and talked about constantly.  We were SO excited to be taking this summer vacation!  One, our kids hadn't been to a "real" beach, and I just knew they would love it, and two, because we love the beach and we love everything that comes with it.  I seriously could smell the "ocean" my entire life and never get sick of it.  I love to walk out in the morning and take a deep breath.  It's totally what my soul is meant to do :)  This vacation was with the Young side.  We searched for the perfect house, reserved it, then began talking it up to the kids!
It was finally time to take off.....
This was the "road trip" to Utah the night before.  This was probably a good indication as to how the next day was going to go :)  Kids were going nuts.  It was a LONG 3 hour drive.  This was how they arrived to SLC.  Naked and goofy. The flight out was going well until we hit Alabama and we had to circle in the air for an hour due to bad weather in Atlanta.  This lead to numerous delays once on ground, and an hour layover turned into nearly 5 hours.

Two of which we were waiting for a flight attendant to arrive.  Who knew they had "schedulers" that forgot to schedule them on a flight!!  Our flight into Wilmington NC was short and arrived at 10 instead of 5 only to find out our rental car company was closed for the night :)  But we were on the road shortly with another company and arrived at the beachhouse safely.  Kids went swimming in their undies well into the late hours of the night.  They needed it!! We needed it!! Long, long day and not much fun but the rest of the week was fabulous!!

Just what we would want our vacation to be.  A lot of laying around, swimming in the pool at the house and having fun in the ocean surf.  Ate some good food, spent a fun week with family, and other than the stairs that were to go up and down every level, the house was perfect!!  Out the door to the pool, which the kids pretty much lived in, and down the walk to the beach.
I love the pictures from the first day.  Mike's not far from Kade as he gets a feel for the water, body surging, and boogie boarding.

As opposed to pretty much after the first day where the kids did amazing at boogie boarding and we weren't constantly nervous

Pool fun

This is Griffin.  His dad and I went to school together in Snowflake, AZ.  They were out in NC on work/vacation as well and we were able to meet up the first day.  It was fun to have them there.

The pool was seriously the perfect size for the kids.  Kade gained a lot of confidence swimming (maybe too much), and learned how to swim distances under water.

Beach time, shell hunter, and fun in the sun

There are signs of Love everywhere :)
 And shark teeth :)

The house in the background was our home for the week :)

And some days were just utterly exhausting
 Scenery was beautiful

One morning the boys all set off fishing.....

Ewwww, I'm not touching that fish
But I'll look good and have fun :)
And then, sigh, it was time to go home.  We were tan, we had fun, and we got to relax.  What more could you want!\
